Introduzione:

Le famiglie Spartan® e Spartan-XL FPGA sono una soluzione FPGA di produzione ad alto volume che offre tutti i requisiti chiave per la sostituzione di ASIC fino a 40.000 gate. Questi requisiti includono alte prestazioni, RAM su chip, soluzioni core e prezzi che, in grandi quantità, si avvicinano e in molti casi sono equivalenti ai dispositivi ASIC programmati con maschera. La famiglia Spartan®-3A di Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) risolve le sfide di progettazione nella maggior parte delle applicazioni elettroniche ad alto volume, sensibili ai costi e ad alta intensità di I/O. La famiglia a cinque membri offre densità che vanno da 50.000 a 1,4 milioni di gate di sistema, come mostrato nella Tabella 1. Gli FPGA Spartan-3A fanno parte della famiglia Extended Spartan-3A, che include anche gli Spartan-3AN non volatili e gli FPGA Spartan-3A DSP a densità superiore. La famiglia Spartan-3A si basa sul successo delle precedenti famiglie Spartan-3E e Spartan-3 FPGA. Le nuove funzionalità migliorano le prestazioni del sistema e riducono il costo della configurazione. Questi miglioramenti della famiglia Spartan-3A, combinati con la comprovata tecnologia di processo a 90 nm, offrono più funzionalità e larghezza di banda per dollaro che mai, stabilendo il nuovo standard nel settore della logica programmabile.
